17 people killed in head-on collision in northwest Pakistan

At least 17 passengers, including women and children, were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a speeding truck-trailer near a tunnel in northwestern Pakistan, a rescue official said early Friday.

According to local emergency officials and state media, the accident happened in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

“We have shifted all the dead and injured to a hospital in Kohat,” said rescue officer Rahmat Ullah.

Acting Chief Minister of the state, Azam Khan has expressed deep sorrow and grief over this painful accident.

On Sunday, a passenger bus crashed into a pillar and fell off a bridge in Balochistan province, which caught fire and killed 40 people.

Fatal accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road infrastructure and disregard for traffic laws.
