OTT platforms have benefited immensely due to the pandemic. These days the public is also keen to watch movies on OTT instead of theatres. So the theater business has been affected to an extent. But the public complaint is that there is too much adult content and pornography on these digital platforms.

Due to some films and shows, there has been a demand for censoring the content on OTT. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur has now given some important statements in this regard. Addressing the media, Anurag Thakur said that abusive words cannot be tolerated in the name of creativity.

He said that the central government is very serious about the increasing obscenity on OTT. The minister, however, said that most complaints would be resolved at the manufacturer level, and the government would take up only a few.

The Honorable Minister said that strict action will be taken if the complaint reaches the government. Anurag Thakur further remarked that if obscenity crosses the line, the government will not think twice about making some significant changes in the rules.
