Amitabh Bachchan injured while shooting film in India

MUMBAI, India (AP) – Amitabh Bachchan says he was injured while shooting a film in southern India and is recuperating at home.

The 80-year-old Bollywood superstar posted on his blog on Sunday night that he injured a rib while working on the science fiction film “Project K” in Hyderabad. It is being made in Hindi and Telugu languages ​​and is expected to release in 2024.

Bachchan wrote that his rib cartilage was damaged and the muscle was torn. He said the injury was “painful” and consulted a doctor before flying to Mumbai, where he was advised rest.

“I am unable to meet well-wishers at Jalsa Gate this evening, so don’t come,” the actor told fans who often gather outside his house in Mumbai. “Everything else is fine,” he wrote.

He added that his work on the film had been suspended until he recovered.

This was not the first time that he had suffered an injury on the sets of a film. In 1983, during a fight scene on the sets of “Coolie”, he suffered serious injuries in an accident and was declared “clinically dead”. People all over India spent the day offering public prayers. He eventually recovered and finished the film.

Bachchan has acted in over 200 Indian films. His breakthrough came in the 1973 film “Zanjeer,” or “The Chain,” and he achieved superstardom by playing bold characters, inspiring fans to copy his hairstyle, clothes, and deep voice.

The hugely popular actor is also a former politician and a television host.
