Bollywood has been struggling with content since the pandemic. There was a lot of confusion about what kind of films should be made. The industry came up with several remakes that have bitten the dust. Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 was the only remake to become successful after the pandemic. Even remakes of Telugu hits like Jersey, Hit and Ala Vaikunthapurramulo failed miserably at the box office. Ajay Devgn’s Kaithi remake Bhola is releasing next week.

Now another remake is all set to release on 7th April. Titled Gumrah, the film is an official remake of the Tamil superhit Thadam which starred Arun Vijay in the lead. To note, Rama Pothineni remade this film in Telugu as Raid, which garnered mixed responses. Gumrah features Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role.

Seetha Ramam beauty Mrunal Thakur plays the role of Police Inspector, played by Vidya Pradeep and Nivetha Pethuraj in Tamil and Telugu languages respectively. The Hindi remake is directed by Vardhan Ketkar. At a time when remakes are not working in the Hindi industry, the theatrical release is certainly a bold move by the makers. Let’s see how the film performs at the box office.
