Christian parents in the United Kingdom pulled their 4-year-old son from a Church of England school after his head teacher allegedly promoted “gender identity” lessons.
Father Stephen Evans told Fox News Digital of the gender debate, “It’s just a minefield, and children shouldn’t be subjected to this agenda.”
Evans and his wife Joan were among several parents who planned to teach young children at St Mary’s, Prittlewell – a primary school in Essex, England – a book by Scott Stuart titled “My Shadow Is Pink”, which he felt. The policy group Transgender Trends has criticized the book, claiming that it promotes the notion that one can change one’s gender by wearing clothing or changing hairstyles associated with the opposite sex.
The group said of the book, “Telling young children that hairstyles and clothing will change their gender and that other children will believe it to be true is a cruel hoax, as it plays on a child’s limited understanding of development.” “It is a cynical trick to use on children who are at the age when fantasy play is most intense.”

“I don’t know why they’re trying to promote it,” Evans said. “I don’t know who’s lobbying whom. It’s a bigger issue than I realized. We didn’t know how many parents talked about it. We felt like we were alone.” She added that stories published in UK outlets about her condition have been fueled by supportive comments.
“The point is, it is not suitable for 4-year-olds, and it is not appropriate for a Church of England school to be teaching or promoting it.”
Evans stated that her family is Baptist, but noted that other parents who are not Christians have expressed support for her stance based on their belief that such material is not age-appropriate.
