Megastar Chiranjeevi joins forces with his ardent fans, hero Ravi Teja and director Bobby Kolli, and the result is the Sankranti blockbuster Waltair Veeraiyya. Today, the film has completed its 50-day run across 115 centers in the twin Telugu states and Karnataka. Of these, 70 are direct centers including 5 centers in Kannada Bhoomi.
The success of Waltair Veeraiya is special not just for Chiru or the team of the film, but also for the mega fans. Bobby has been successful in bringing back the old Chiru of the 90s in his full glory as a big god. Many scenes in the film were actually fan moments for the fans.
Coming to the box office numbers, Waltair Veeraiya has so far collected a whopping Rs 138 crore worldwide. The film gave Chiru the much-needed breakthrough after two forgettable pairings of Godfather and Acharya back-to-back. Whether or not Waltair Veeraiya can surpass Chiru’s career best grosser Sye Raa Narasimhareddy’s lifetime collection of Rs 143.50 crore remains to be seen.
Shruti Haasan is the leading lady in Waltair Veeraiya. Music composer Devi Sri Prasad literally loads Poonakallu with his energetic and foot-tapping album for mega fans. Leading Tollywood production house Mythri Movie Makers has bankrolled the project.
